Description:
Mohawk Step Drill Reamers are a two flute drill and a multi-fluted reamer combined into one tool. The tool concept is to drill and ream 'thru' holes in one production pass, whenever the part tolerance permits.

Applications:
Step Drill Reamers are truly unique. One of the biggest advantages in selecting this tool construction is that from the solid, 'thru' holes can be drilled and reamed to finish size in one pass. Significant time savings are made by elimination of tool withdrawal, tool changing and tool indexing as required for normal drill and reamer operations. Another advantage is that tool index problems are eliminated. We suggest that if limitations permit, Subland Drill Reamers should be used whenever practical.
The operation must be a 'thru hole' application and the drill should drill thru and be finished cutting before the reamer portion starts to cut.

Limitations:
Unfortunately this unique tool concept comes with limitations: Hole depth should not exceed 2 to 3 times the reamer diameter. The tool is best suited to applications where finished bore tolerance limits are ISO grade 8 or higher.
The drill diameter should not be less than 90% of the reamer diameter.
